What is the Juneteenth Youth Leadership Award?
The Juneteenth Youth Leadership Awards recognize and celebrate exceptional young individuals from our community who demonstrate outstanding leadership, academic perseverance, and a strong commitment to their community. These awards spotlight students who, despite facing personal and systemic challenges, continue to excel and inspire those around them. Through this initiative, we honor their achievements during our annual Juneteenth Freedom Fest, encouraging them to continue their path of excellence and leadership.
2024 Juneteenth Youth Leadership Awards Nomination Process
This year, we are proud to recognize 12 extraordinary youth between the ages of 8 and 17—six boys and six girls—from Columbia, SC, and the surrounding areas. Nominations for the Juneteenth Youth Leadership Awards must be submitted by May 22, 2024. Winners will be announced on June 1, 2024. Each nominee will receive a certificate of recognition for their commendable qualities and contributions. The 12 selected awardees will be honored with an official award at the South Carolina Juneteenth Freedom Fest on June 15, 2024, in a celebration of their achievements and potential.
